The first two show the region: Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan.

The next two show the eastern part of Afghanistan from the capitol of Kabol to the border with Pakistan including the Khyber Pass.

The next two show mountains and rivers. In the lower right corner is the provincial capitol of Asadabad. One must follow a river west and then a stream north to reach Wanat.

The last two show the location of the Vehicle Patrol Base that commands the valley where the battle was fought.
