General Stanley McChrystal commands the International Security Assistance Force, a military organization in Afghanistan possessing troops from 26 NATO countries and 15 other countries.  Their central mission in Afghanistan is conducted by Task Force Phoenix.  The United States is the biggest single contributor, though not a majority of the total force.  The Illinois Army National Guard has some 3,000 soldiers in Afghanistan – which is eleven percent of the American component.
