A
hearing on a defense motion to dismiss the homicide was postponed until January
20th. (background

Greg
and his fiancée and his father and eight bikers and Lora Hunt and eleven
members of her family reached courtroom 204 at 1:30. The judge explained that a murder trial from
that morning had to be finished first.
So we
all waited awkwardly outside the courtroom in two groups for two hours. There was no communication between the two
groups and very little eye contact. Then
the judge rescheduled the hearing for the 20th and we left.
The
whole thing was absurd. The indictment
was delivered by a Grand Jury and “recklessness” is not a question of law. The motion should never have been brought.
Of
course, Lora Hunt should have simply admitted her guilt and the trial would not
be necessary either. The ultimate
absurdity is her claim to be “not guilty” because nail-polishing-while-driving
is not specifically a crime. Such is the
nonsense of our criminal justice system.

So we
stood in the hallway for two hours in our two groups and then we all left. No anger; no justice; no loud talking. How sophisticated we are.
